Dallas - Mr. William O. "Bill" Powell, III, 78, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain.

Bill was born on December 5, 1943 a son of the late William O. Powell and Frances Harrelson Powell. He retired as a manager for an Insurance company.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Powell; a son, William Brian Powell and two brothers, Frank and Robert Powell.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, LaVonne H. Powell of Shelby; a daughter-in-law Tammy Powell; of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Nathan Powell and Hannah Powell; two great grandchildren, Isabella and Autumn Powell; two sisters, Patricia Powell McSwain of South Carolina and Peggy Lackey of Cary.

Visitation will be from 2:00PM to 2:45PM on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim McKee officiating.

Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville.
