Obituary for Wayne Jenks

Cherryville - Mr. William Wayne Jenks, 63, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, June 24, 2021.

Wayne was born on August 3, 1957 in Lincoln County a son of the late Bobby Gene Jenks and Sarah Childers Jenks. He attended West Lincoln High School where he played football, basketball and baseball and was voted "most athletic" his senior year. During these years and following he also played on several softball leagues. Wayne was very active in sports and enjoyed hunting as well. He began working for NASCAR in 1980 and worked 20 years with Travis Carter and several other teams. He was the "Jackman" and transport hauler. Wayne was one of the top four jackmen in NASCAR at the time. He then went to work at Southeastern Motor Freight where he retired. His next adventure would be a new business, Jenks Lawn Care, along with his nephew Alex Jenks. He was member of Cooksville Masonic Lodge #502 A.F. & A. M., the York Rite, Oasis Shriners and member of Lincoln County Shrine Club. Wayne was a faithful member of North Brook Baptist Church in Cherryville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lenny and Jerry Pendleton.

Left to cherish his memory are brothers, Bobby Jenks, Jr. (Denise) and Terry Pendleton; sisters, Penny Huss (Jerry) and Rita Sronce (Gary) and an adopted daughter, Allesa Setzer. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews and close friends. He also had two very special friends over the years, his black lab dogs who were like his kids, Harley and Denver.

Visitation will be from 1:00PM to 2:45PM on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at North Brook Baptist Church.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00PM on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at North Brook Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Wise officiating.

Burial will be private.
