Obituary for Steve Morris
Cherryville - Mr. Steve Morris, 68, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, June 11, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Steve was born on November 8, 1952 in New York a son of the late Kenneth Morris and Ruth Hillerman Morris. He was retired from Riddley Retail Fixtures of Cherryville. Steve was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cherryville where he served in many capacities including a deacon, disaster relief, Sunday school teacher, Brotherhood, sound operator and went on multiple mission trips. He was also known as the "grill master." Steve was awarded the Shady Grove Life award on May 2, 2021.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce Morris.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Debbie Smith Morris of the home; two daughters, Wendy McLeymore and husband Jeff; Lori Isreal and husband Tony all of Cherryville; three grandchildren, Kallie Frazier (Ethan), Cassie Isreal (Jacob Carpenter), Daulton Isreal and Brittany Utley; a great grandchild, Brexton Utley; five brothers, David Morris, Burge Morris, Terry Morris, Gene Morris and Chris Morris; five sisters, Jackie Bailey, Kenna Pettijohn, Katie Snodgrass, Barbara Troyer and Sharon Bennett. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 1:30PM to 2:45PM at Shady Grove Baptist Church and at other times the family will be at the home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Hendricks officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
