Obituary for Nancy Beam

Her work on earth now complete, Nancy Beam, 87, of Dobson, NC transitioned to Heaven on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 5:00 P.M. Born July 18, 1933, she was the youngest of thirteen children born to the late Frank and Sally Baxter Beam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Dwight, Brian, F.L., Kent, Cranson Beam, and infant Beam, and sisters Viola Eaker, Madeline Beam, Josephine Beam, Sue Phillips, Gonza LaHood, and Mazelle McNeely.

A lifelong learner, she enrolled in Appalachian State University in her late 30's and earned a degree in education. Until her retirement, she was employed by Surry County Schools, where she taught exceptional children with dedication and skill. Nancy had a special passion for teaching children to read and enjoyed their progress.

Nancy was also preceded in death by her husband, Raeford Z. Dellinger, her son, Zenius "Buck" Dellinger, and her grandson, Max Bennett "Ben" Dellinger. Nancy is survived by her son, Max Dellinger and his wife Joan and her daughter, Anna McGuire and her husband Marc. Other survivors are a daughter-in-law, Kathy Dellinger; five grandchildren, Kimberly Eggers and husband Stacy IV, Katie Glore and husband Colin, Maranda Atkins and husband Justin, Matthew McGuire and wife Amber, and Jake Dellinger and Lizzie and seven great grandchildren, Stacy V, Alex, and Henry Eggers, Maddux and Myles Atkins, and Macon and Owen McGuire. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Nancy Beam will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Robert Wise officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a Hospice organization of the donor's choice or to Lakewood Care Center 7981 Optimist Club Road Denver, NC 28037.

Burial will be private.
