Obituary for Dr. Lewis G. Harrelson
Waco – Dr. Lewis Gardner “Doc” Harrelson, 81, of the Waco Community, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.
Doc was born on September 22, 1940 a son of the late Asbury C. Harrelson and Willie Gardner Harrelson. He received a Bachelor of Animal Science Degree from North Carolina State University and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sarah Baker Harrelson; a daughter, Holly Harrelson; two sisters, Deloras “Delo” Wood and Betty Helton and a brother, Dr. Michael Harrelson.
Survivors include a son, Philip Harrelson of Forest City; a grandson, Brandon Glover of Shelby; a special niece, Jane Wood and special family members, Shane and Stacey Glover of Shelby.
A private graveside service was held at St. Paul United Methodist Church Cemetery in Shelby.
