Obituary for Laura Franklin

Lincolnton – Mrs. Laura Evon Carpenter Franklin, 74, went home to Heaven peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.

Laura was born on July 5, 1948 in Lincoln County, NC a daughter of the late Robert Pink Carpenter and Mary Lee Earl carpenter. She worked in textiles, furniture factory and was a homemaker. Laura was a member of Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Elsie Carpenter and seven brothers, Doug, Ken, Clayton, Barry, Max, Dan and Litton Carpenter.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, David Franklin of the home; three sons, Robert Franklin and wife Joanna of Cherryville; Johnny Franklin, Frank Franklin; a daughter, Jeanette Franklin; a sister, Wanda Carpenter; two brothers, Ted Carpenter and wife Jessie and Donald Carpenter all of Lincolnton; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the Hospice Care team and to Johnny and Frank for all they have done to help mom during her illness.

The family will receive friends from 11:45AM to 12:45PM on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, December, 31, 2022 at Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church with the Revs. Bobby Holtsclaw and Mike Fox officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton.
