Obituary for K. Dean Moffitt, Sr.

Bessemer City - Mr. K. Dean Moffitt, Sr., 87, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

Dean was born on June 10, 1934 in Buncombe County, NC a son of the late Osborne Moffitt and Shirley Nanney Moffitt. He was retired from Turbo Conveyors in Kings Mountain as a Purchasing Agent. Dean was a longtime and faithful member of Mt. Beulah Baptist Church in Bessemer City. He remained an active member of the choir and a trustee. He previously served as a deacon and the Men’s Sunday School teacher for over 50 years and was highly respected within his church family for his immense knowledge of the Bible. He was a member of the Gideon's International. Dean served in the U.S. Army.

Although Dean and Betty settled in Gaston County, his mountain heritage and extended family stayed close to his heart. He enjoyed gardening and following Atlanta Braves baseball and UNC basketball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Dalton and a brother, Clifton Moffitt.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Betty Costner Moffitt of the home; a son Kenneth Dean Moffitt Jr and wife Benita of Bessemer City; a daughter, Robin Bryant and husband Dana of Lincolnton; the apple of his eye, his grandson Micah Dean Moffitt and wife Megan; a great granddaughter, Esther Moffitt; two sisters, Betty Buckner of Lake Lure and Peggy Congdon of Black Mountain.

Visitation will be from 12:00PM to 1:30PM on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Nab and Rev. Fain Farmer officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
