Maiden - Ms. Joyce Woody, 67, fell asleep in the arms of the Lord on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at her residence. She was surrounded by her caregiver and partner of 37 years.

Joyce was born in Avery County, NC on May 6, 1955 a daughter of the late Ed Woody and Artha "Bill" Cook Woody. She would chase a penny down a hill to keep it. Joyce was a wonderful person and would give you the shirt off of her back.

Survivors include her life partner of 37 years, Cindy Parish of the home; a son, Shawn Haynes of Lenoir; a daughter, Amanda Schaefer (Chris) of Marietta, GA; three grandsons, Brandon Ray Haynes of Davidson, Joseph Scott Roy Williams of Lenoir, Will Schaefer of Georgia; a granddaughter, Haille Schaefer of Georgia; a sister, Lois Ingram of Avery County; three brothers, Lance Woody (Hilda) of Morganton, Leonard Woody of Avery County and Clarence Woody of North Carolina.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be private.
