Obituary for J L Sellers
Kings Mountain - Mr. J L Sellers, 95, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.
J L was born in Gaston County, NC on July 21, 1926 a son of the late Charlie Clayton Sellers and Mary Ella Sellers. He was retired as a dock worker from Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation. J L was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cherryville. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. J L enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with others, especially his cantaloupes.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Pansy Hallman Sellers; two sisters, Ruth Hoyle and Edna Craft; three brothers, Earl, Walter and Chatman Sellers.
Survivors include two daughters, Tresa Ratchford and Lisa Sellers and a son, Blenard Sellers; two grandchildren, Leslie Stone and David Stone; one great grandson, Stone Mintz; two sisters, Mary Jackson of Cherryville and Margie Bess of Kings Mountain; a brother, Herbert “Hub” Sellers of Lincolnton. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:45AM to 11:45AM on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00PM on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Hendricks officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
