Obituary for Fred L. Whitesides
Cherryville - Mr. Fred L. Whitesides, 71, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Testa Family Hospice House in Kings Mountain.
Fred was born on November 22, 1949 in York, SC a son of the late Richard H. Whitesides and Dorothy Mickle Whitesides. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cherryville and was retired from law enforcement. Fred enjoyed playing music and was involved in several local bands over the years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Phyllis George Whitesides of the home; two sons, Chip Whitesides and wife Ruthie of Crouse; David Whitesides of Cherryville; a granddaughter, Kylie Whitesides; a sister, Leesa Workman and husband Dennis of Cherryville and a brother, Richard Keith Whitesides of Mt. Shasta, California.
Visitation will be from 1:30PM to 2:45PM on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Cherryville.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Vince Hefner and Rev. G. Scott Homesley officiating.
Military honors will be provided at the conclusion of the service.
Burial will be private.
