Obituary for Eleanor "Tommie" Morris

Bessemer City - Mrs. Eleanor Mauney "Tommie" Morris, 87, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at her residence.

Tommie was born on June 27, 1935 in Gaston County, NC a daughter of the late Hunter Ervin Mauney, Sr. and Lois Moody Mauney. She was retired as a lab technician from Mohican Mills in Lincolnton. Tommie was a member of Hephzibah Presbyterian Church in Bessemer City. She loved spending time in her garden, crocheting and working with crafts.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Alice Morris and Eleanor "Anne" Putnam; a sister, Clara Jean Smith and a brother, Kenneth "Bus" Mauney.

Survivors include two daughters, Bobbi Conner and husband George of Lincolnton; Donna Suttles Broome of Pumpkin Center; a sister Shirlee Carrodus of Bessemer City; a brother, Hunter Mauney, Jr.; eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to James Putnam and Johanna Sewell for the care they provided Tommie.

The family will receive friends from 1:45PM to 2:45PM on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Queen officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Hephzibah Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Bessemer City.
