Obituary for Chris Whitworth

Vale - Mr. Chris Whitworth, 56, passed away on October 13, 2021 in Washington, D.C.

Chris was born on August 12, 1965 in Lincoln County, NC a son of Eunice Adams Whitworth and the late Whitworth. Chris was a former truck driver at Mohican mills. He loved driving a 18 wheeler, and he was a advocate for homeless cats and loved his rescues.

Chris was preceeded in death by his father James Whitworth, a maternal grandmother who was like a mother to him Annie Mae Adams, a maternal grandfather Robert Adams, paternal grandmother Ollie Mae Whitworth, and a paternal grandfather J.L. Whitworth.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years Glenda Whitworth, loving daughter Kristen Whitworth of Vale, honorary son Shuhip Humayan of VA, mother Eunice Whitworth of Cherryville NC, a brother Mike Whitworth and wife Tammy Whitworth of Cherryville NC, a special niece Rebekah Barrett and her husband Jonathan Barrett, and several other nieces and nephews.

The body will lie in state from 10:00AM to 12:30PM on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home. The family will not be present during this time.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, October 22, 2021 at North Brook Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ray Pennell officiating.

Due to COVID-19 attendees are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
