Obituary for Brenda S. Sluder
Cherryville - Mrs. Brenda Lee Sellers Sluder, 80, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.
Brenda was born in Lincoln County, NC on February 23, 1942 a daughter of the late Max B. Sellers and Mildred Bridges Sellers. She worked with Head Start preschool program and also at other daycare centers and textile mills. Brenda was also a caregiver to many children that she considered as her own. She was a member of Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, coloring and was the reigning family champion in Rummy.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Sluder; a son, Jimmy Dean "Rusty" Sluder; three grandsons, Michael Chapman, Christopher Harris and Michael Sluder and a brother, Robert "Sonny" Sellers.
Survivors include her three daughters, Elayne Chapman and husband David; Dana Daves and Crystal Brittain; a sister, Debbie Fetner (Donnie); a special niece, Kay Sain; seven grandchildren, Holly Camp (Jonathan), Bruce Chapman (Tarra), Brandon Sluder, Jason Lowe (Tara), Danielle Hill (Chris), Jamie Harris and Charlotte Daves; 14 great grandchildren, Vivian-Layne, London and Lilly Camp, Ethan, Lowe and Tucker Gilbert, Abigail, Logan and Amberlyn Harris, Jaxon and Eve Chapman, Sierra Daves, Marshall and Stephen Safrit.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Cherryville Missionary Methodist Church with Revs. Bobby Holtsclaw and Kyeth Lindsay officiating.
Burial will be in Cherryville City Memorial Cemetery.
